How it is Done – Blackwind Speed Sketch (Noir)

Today we will take a peek behind the scenes of the Blackwind Project, to show the typical making-of the art of X/43. This quick sketch shows the process from beginning to end, drawn with a size 2 brush, black drawing ink and a4 paper.

This video was shot in real time, not in timelapse. Since this was a simple sketch the usual preparatory drawing was skipped, but more complex pieces are usually drawn with pencils first, and then inked.

Most illustrations in the Core Manual were made this way. A few, the most detailed ones, were drawn on a3 paper, using a size 6 brush for campitura backgrounds. The images are then scanned, polished, and finalized.
